Favourite BABY-G moment?
I had my first ever BABY-G years ago, it was black with turquoise trim and a black fabric strap with the same turquoise tipping. I wore it to death when I went to Israel to live on a Kibbutz. Originally I went there because I wanted to go to a country with sun and be away longer than 2 weeks. I ended up staying 2 years as was offered work at the sheep house. When I was younger I wanted to be a vet but failed to gain another science at A Level so this job was my dream and of course I said yes. I was ‘mum' to all the lambs so my Baby G would be nibbled on, dribbled on, baa-ed at and generally bashed about. Both myself and the watch did scrub up well for the Kibbutz disco every Friday night though, which was in a disused bunker.
What makes you Pretty Tough?
Having a sense of humour and learning the hard way that often you should not to take it personally because well, it’s often not personal. I did the door of the Wag for DJ Fat Tony (he sometimes DJ’s with Kate Moss and they call themselves Fat Moss - always makes me giggle) every Saturday in my late teens/early 20’s and if that doesn’t toughen you up nothing will. My fellow doormen always had a laugh and were super polite and I’ve lived by this ever since..
What is your favourite piece that you have produced?
I’m wearing the Holiday Tribal Print all over sequin dress to DEATH at the moment so I’d say that. I’m looking forward to my Parallel Lines sweater from AW15 though, it’s hot pink and black and is from our menswear collection.
Where did inspiration for the name ‘Sibling’ come from?
We wanted a name that summed up our ideas for the brand and SIBLING came to us quite naturally. We argue, we apologise, we hang out together, we have fun, we are always in each other’s pockets you know like siblings. Also the brand is about feeling inclusive, anyone can join. New family members can be anyone, just follow us and get involved.
Where’s your favourite London hang-out?
I’d start at my friend Jack’s garden, move to The Birdcage, go to Clutch chicken and end up at The Glory. Otherwise I love my sofa and a crap film like Battleships on the telly. For a social person I can be a right hermit.
Does music influence your work?
Oh God yeah, hugely! We are obsessed with music. You can probably tell from the names of the garments I’ve mentioned? Holiday is Madonna and Parallel Lines, Blondie.
Who would you like to see wearing Sibling?
Tell us about your latest collaboration with BABY-G for LFW SS16?
Taking the much admired and loved classic BABY-G the strap is a printed adaptation of our Leopard print in SIBLING black and Pink, a colour used with great effect by since launching in 2008. The watch is white based, fun and colourful summing up the SIBLING and BABY-G aesthetics perfectly.
